General Background:
The UNHCR MCO Hungary is excited to announce a vacancy for a dedicated and creative Art Teacher at the “Budapest Helps!” Information and Community Centre. In response to the ongoing Ukraine crisis, we aim to deliver thematic art activities to enhance mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
The Centre offers a variety of essential services, including:
- Legal counselling
- School enrolment support
- Access to health care
- Employment assistance
- Administrative support
- Accommodation and ticketing information
- Children’s programs (arts and crafts, robotics classes)
- Recreational activities through art and culture
- Hungarian and English classes
- Arts programming and workshops
- Community support programs
- Ukrainian cultural and community events
Overall Purpose and Scope:
The Art Teacher will organize and conduct various art activities, working closely with the CBP unit of the UNHCR Representation for Central Europe, stationed in Budapest. The role includes two main areas of responsibility:
a) Art Recreational Activities
- Lead 1 hour and 45 minutes long thematic art classes twice a week for both adults and children.
- Develop and submit a rotating monthly art course plan for approval by the CBP unit’s designated focal point.
b) General Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support, including submitting attendance lists and quarterly reports.
- Allocate an extra half-hour weekly for class preparation and reporting.
- Manage visual material needs, obtain consent forms, and document classes through photos and videos.
- Aid the Digital Community Manager Assistant and Cultural Coordinator with public outreach content on thematic classes.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
- Execute any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in teaching education with at least 3 years of teaching experience.
- Must be a Hungarian national or hold a valid Hungarian residence permit.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and be a team player.
Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in Ukrainian is required.
- Proficiency in English and/or Hungarian is desired.
Compensation and Work Schedule:
- Suggested fee: gross HUF 6,500/hour.
- Average work schedule: 16-20 hours per month.
- Payment: Monthly instalments based on an approved timesheet.
