Job Description:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Nutrition Screening Support: Assist woredas and PHCUs in planning and conducting nutrition screening activities. Ensure functional referral pathways and linkages between communities and health facilities (HF) and vice versa. Promote available services for beneficiaries and train staff in nutrition screening and referral services.
  • Supply Management: Ensure health facilities are equipped with the necessary supplies for nutrition screening activities, such as MUAC tapes, registration and reporting formats, referral forms, and guidelines.
  • Community Mobilization: Support and promote community mobilization and sensitization activities related to the nutrition screening program. Assist Woreda Health Offices and PHCUs in piloting the Family MUAC approach.
  • Technical Support: Implement and provide technical support for TSFP (food distribution), site preparation for IDPs, community mobilization, and nutritional screening for both host and IDP populations. Conduct regular supportive supervision and provide technical support at stabilization centers and Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) sites weekly.
  • Program Integration: Ensure linkage of OTP discharges, MAM children, and acutely malnourished PLW to the distribution of protection and TSF rations, if applicable. Support the integration of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programs into the health system and ensure the availability of IYCF counseling services in coordination with IYCF team members.
  • Resource Management: Print, laminate, and provide necessary OTP/SC guidelines and protocols for running OTP/SC programs. Ensure job aids are available in health posts, such as HEW quick references, lookup tables, report formats, tally sheets, and stock control balance forms.

Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification:

  • Education: BSc degree in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition, or a related health field of study from accredited universities or health colleges.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of three years working experience with NGOs in CMAM programs. Certificates in Acute Malnutrition (2019 revised guideline training), Revised 2019 IMAM guideline, IYCF-E training, Integrated Pharmaceuticals Logistics System (IPLS), and Family MUAC approach and TSFP/MAM.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge, training, and experience in managing MAM and SAM with/without medical complications. Skills in CMAM program planning, implementation, and monitoring. Experience in cascading the Family MUAC approach.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with good human relation skills. Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours as needed.

Travel and Work Environment Requirements:

  • Fieldwork: Willingness to work in stabilization centers, OTP, and TSFP centers. Frequent travel to project sites is required.

Language Requirements:

  • Languages: Proficiency in English and knowledge of the local language is advantageous.
