Program Overview
The IKEA Foundation and the IRC have joined forces to launch Refugees in East Africa: Boosting Urban Innovations for Livelihoods Development (Re:BUiLD). This comprehensive program aims to help urban refugees and their host communities achieve economic self-reliance while inspiring global systemic change through evidence-based practices. The program leverages Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs), pilots, and monitoring to identify effective methods for improving urban livelihoods.
Position Summary
The IRC is looking for Qualitative Research Facilitators (RCFs) to assist in the qualitative evaluation of the second wave of the Re:BUiLD RCT intervention in Kampala. This five-year initiative, active in Kampala and Nairobi, aims to boost economic self-reliance among urban refugees and vulnerable host community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct key informant interviews with clients to gather insights about their experiences, businesses, and practices.
- Perform translation and transcription tasks as required.
- Maintain compliance with organizational performance standards, code of conduct, and safeguarding policies.
- Follow confidentiality procedures when handling data.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in social sciences or Humanities.
- Experience in leading key informant interviews and collecting qualitative research data.
- Background in working with vulnerable communities.
- Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
- Adaptable to changing work demands and expectations.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Swahili, French, Oromo, Somali, Amharic, or Arabic is a plus.
- Must have a URA TIN number.
- Willing to work in the neighborhoods of Makindye, Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, and Kampala Central.
- Urban refugees with a refugee ID are highly encouraged to apply.
