Position Summary
The Membership Engagement and Special Projects Coordinator plays a crucial role within the Governance, Policy, and Accountability team. Working across multiple teams, the Coordinator will facilitate internal engagement among CARE’s diverse membership, including senior leaders, affiliates, and working groups. The position is responsible for leading strategic projects, advancing internal communications, and supporting governance structures.
The role requires a proactive, dynamic professional who can navigate complex organizational networks, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and contribute to CARE’s long-term strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advance Membership Shared Priorities
- Lead strategic projects that enhance CARE’s agility and responsiveness to global humanitarian and development challenges.
- Facilitate discussions on membership diversification, local leadership, and global connectivity.
- Organize meetings, webinars, and events to advance CARE-wide understandings and initiatives.
- Oversee consultant contributions and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Monitor and report on member strategic plans in alignment with CARE’s Vision 2030.
- Contribute to thought leadership and risk analysis on organizational development trends.
2. Lead Internal Communications for the Secretariat
- Develop internal communication updates, presentations, and reports on CARE-wide initiatives.
- Coordinate with external communication teams to align messaging and engagement strategies.
- Support the Executive Committee Chair in internal communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Create presentations, orientation materials, and knowledge-sharing resources.
- Maintain and update CARE’s internal intranet (CARE Shares) to enhance accessibility to key information.
3. Line Management and Team Coordination
- Supervise the Membership Engagement Officer to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage external consultants, including defining terms of reference and quality assurance of deliverables.

Who You’ll Work With
The Membership Engagement and Special Projects Coordinator will work closely with:
- Governance, Policy, and Accountability Team: Ensuring alignment with CI’s global policies and governance structures.
- CI Executive Committee and National Directors: Collaborating with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives.
- CARE Secretariat Teams: Engaging with internal departments to streamline coordination and communication efforts.
- Working Groups and Other Stakeholders: Facilitating engagement across CARE’s diverse network of members and partners.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education & Experience
- A postgraduate degree in international development, organizational development, change management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 8 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with a strong understanding of complex organizational networks, alliances, and confederations.

- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French, Spanish, or Arabic is highly desirable.
