Key Responsibilities

As a Communications Associate, you will be responsible for executing communication strategies, fostering partnerships, and creating content that highlights the work of UNHCR. Your key responsibilities will include:

Content Creation & Strategy Execution

• Support the implementation of communications strategies for various projects, campaigns, and special initiatives.
• Identify key thematic priorities and target audiences to achieve UNHCR’s global and regional communication objectives.

Media & Public Relations

• Monitor news, trending topics, and social conversations to strategically insert UNHCR messaging into relevant discussions.
• Strengthen relationships with media partners, civil society actors, and influencers to amplify the UNHCR brand.
• Assist in research, preparation, editing, and production of media materials for press releases, social media, and online campaigns.
• Provide logistical support for media engagements, campaigns, and events.

Social Media & Digital Engagement

• Support content development and management of UNHCR’s digital platforms, including the website and social media accounts.
• Contribute to the development of visual storytelling elements, including videos, graphics, and interactive media.
• Utilize data analytics to monitor engagement and optimize UNHCR’s digital presence.

Advocacy & Awareness Campaigns

• Assist in the planning and execution of advocacy campaigns focused on refugee rights and humanitarian efforts.
• Draft and distribute communication materials that highlight UNHCR’s achievements and initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize campaign reach and impact.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare briefing notes, reports, and updates for stakeholders and decision-makers.
• Maintain accurate records of media coverage, campaign performance, and engagement analytics.
• Contribute to funding proposals and donor engagement strategies.

Who Can Apply?

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma with 3 years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience in Journalism, Social Sciences, Humanities, or related fields.
• Experience:
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Proven experience in content writing, editing, and digital content production.
  • Background in advocacy campaigns is a plus.
• Language Requirements:
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Additional UN working languages are a plus.
• Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage digital platforms and content production.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends and analytics.
  • Capable of building media partnerships and external relations.
