Background & Job Description
Amnesty International, one of the world’s most influential human rights organizations, is seeking an experienced and creative Framing Consultant to develop high-impact, campaignable messaging that unifies its Climate, Economic and Social Justice, and Corporate Accountability Programme (CEC).
This short-term consultancy opportunity aims to support Amnesty’s strategic communications by crafting 2–4 compelling narrative framings or taglines that represent the programme’s broad areas of work—from climate reparations and tax justice to labor rights and fossil fuel divestment. These framings will serve both internal and external communications purposes, rooted in the organization’s human rights
Duties & Responsibilities
The consultant will engage closely with various CEC teams to design unifying narrative frames that resonate with global audiences. Responsibilities include:
Review & Analysis:

Analyze internal strategies, campaign outputs, press releases, and donor reports.

Conduct one-on-one interviews or small focus groups with programme staff to understand current messaging and long-term goals.
Narrative Development:

Propose an initial set of 2–4 framing taglines.

Facilitate two participatory workshops with CEC programme staff to refine the messaging.

Deliver finalized taglines, each with a concise narrative summary (2–5 sentences).
Final Deliverables:

Draft framings: Expected by Week 5

Final narrative outputs: Expected by Week 8
Qualifications: Education & Certification
While formal academic qualifications are not explicitly required, successful candidates typically demonstrate a blend of:

Expertise in human rights communications, campaign strategy, or messaging frameworks

Essential:

Proven experience in narrative framing or strategic communications, ideally in the fields of climate justice, human rights, or international development

Familiarity with the concepts of inclusive, anti-racist, and transformative messaging

Strong facilitation skills and ability to engage staff in collaborative, iterative processes

Capacity to synthesize diverse, complex topics into clear, action-oriented messages

Ability to deliver quality outputs within tight deadlines
Desirable:

Past experience working with multinational NGOs, advocacy groups, or multilateral organizations

A track record of developing campaign messaging that has been publicly implemented
