Tasks
Selected fellows will be expected to:

Qualifications
Education and Certification

Applicants must hold a PhD in a humanities or social sciences field from a recognized institution.

You must have passed your viva voce (PhD defense) between 1 April 2023 and 1 April 2026.
Experience

Candidates must be in the early stages of their academic careers, with no permanent academic role at the time of application.

Applicants should demonstrate strong research potential and have a clear plan for their proposed postdoctoral project.

Prior academic experience or affiliation with the UK academic system is preferred but not required.

Funding Model: The fellowship follows the Full Economic Costing (FEC) model. The British Academy funds 80% of the total cost, including salary, directly allocated costs (research expenses), and indirect costs (administrative and institutional support).

Mentorship & Teaching: Fellows will benefit from supervision by senior academic mentors, and where appropriate, may also engage in teaching responsibilities to strengthen their university experience.

International Access: Open to all nationalities. Candidates with a PhD from a UK university, regardless of citizenship, and those with a strong academic connection to the UK, are welcome to apply.
