Background & Job Description

Unitaid, hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), is a global partnership focused on accelerating access to innovative health products for HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and women’s and children’s health. Its mission is to create systemic conditions for affordable and equitable healthcare worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of global supply chains, highlighting the urgent need for regional manufacturing of essential health products. Unitaid launched the Regional Manufacturing for Equitable Access (RMEA) program to strengthen local production, initially prioritizing Africa and later expanding to Latin America and other underserved regions.

The selected Consultant will provide direct support to the RMEA team, helping with project execution, stakeholder engagement, technical reporting, and partnership development. This role is home-based with expected international travel.


Tasks

The Consultant will deliver the following key outputs during the 11-month assignment:

  • Transition Support: Assist in moving from inception to implementation by January 2026.

  • Event Coordination: Organize at least three high-level events within the contract duration.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and implement a stakeholder management tool and strengthen relationships with key partners.

  • Operational Partnerships: Facilitate one operationalized partnership agreement.

  • Team Coordination: Design and deploy an internal coordination tool for the RMEA team.

  • Technical Reporting: Produce at least three comprehensive technical reports by contract completion.


Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Essential: University degree in engineering, pharmacy, life sciences, applied sciences, business/public administration, project management, or public health.

  • Desirable: Advanced degree or training in health product development/manufacturing.

Experience

  • Essential:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project or grant management (proposal development, feasibility assessment, project implementation).

    • Proven work in multi-stakeholder environments, including at LMIC level.

    • Hands-on experience across the health product manufacturing value chain: R&D, commercialization, procurement, and delivery.

    • Familiarity with healthcare manufacturing, supply chain management, and regulatory requirements.

  • Desirable:

    • Experience in supply chain, product development, regulatory frameworks, market access, quality assurance, or intellectual property.

    • Experience improving health product access in LMICs.

Skills

  • Strong project management abilities.

  • Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

  • Knowledge of grant financing and implementation (desirable).

Languages

  • Essential: Expert knowledge of English.


Additional Information

  • Remuneration: USD 7,000 – 9,980 per month (Band level B).
