Background & Job Description
UNICEF is one of the world’s most respected organizations, working tirelessly across 190 countries and territories to protect children’s rights, provide life-saving support, and ensure access to education, health, and equal opportunities. With the mission to build a better world for every child, UNICEF continues to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges.
The Education Outcomes Fund (EOF), a flagship initiative supported by UNICEF, is at the forefront of addressing learning poverty and youth unemployment. Launched by the Education Commission (chaired by Gordon Brown, former UK Prime Minister and UN Special Envoy for Global Education) and the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (chaired by Sir Ronald Cohen), EOF aims to transform education by funding what works.
The programme supports governments and organizations to scale innovative financing mechanisms, such as results-based financing (RBF) and outcomes funds. These models ensure that resources are directed towards measurable impact, rewarding interventions that improve both core academic skills (literacy and numeracy) and 21st-century skills (digital literacy, socio-emotional learning, ICT competencies, and employability skills).
By linking education to labor market demands, EOF bridges the persistent gap between the skills young people acquire and the skills employers seek. The ultimate goal is to improve the education and employment outcomes of 10 million children and youth worldwide, with a strong focus on marginalized groups, including rural communities, girls, children with disabilities, and refugees.
