Background & Job Description

The Department of Chemical Sciences at IISER Mohali is accepting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DBT-funded project titled “Deciphering protein folding dynamics and cell mechanics ex vivo”. The project focuses on designing protein constructs and measuring their folding behavior using magnetic tweezers and advanced biophysical tools. It also involves culturing chick hair cells to measure their mechanics under ex vivo conditions.

The position is ideally suited for candidates with a strong interest in single-molecule techniques, instrumentation, molecular biology, and cell biology, and provides a pathway toward a PhD opportunity based on performance and mutual agreement.

Please note: This job opportunity is being shared on this platform for informational purposes only. I am not affiliated with IISER Mohali or the DBT.

Tasks

Selected candidates will:

  • Contribute to the design and development of protein constructs for single-molecule studies.

  • Work with home-built magnetic tweezers, AFM, and fluorescence microscopy.

  • Culture and maintain chick hair cells for biophysical experiments.

  • Analyze protein folding and cell mechanics data.

  • Participate in lab meetings and collaborative research discussions.

  • Prepare reports and contribute to publications.

Qualifications

Education and Certification
