Established in 2011 by Old Mutual Investment Group, the Imfundo Trust Scholarship Programme aims to transform access to higher education for Black South African students, especially young women from rural and township schools. “Imfundo” means education in Nguni languages, underscoring the programme’s mission: empowering future leaders in finance, engineering, data science, and sustainability.

The scholarship is managed by StudyTrust and awards fully funded support to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled at select South African universities.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the 2026 Imfundo Trust Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

General Criteria

  • Be a Black South African citizen (African, Coloured, or Indian)

  • Be enrolled or planning to start full-time studies in 2026

For Grade 12 Learners (Starting First-Year in 2026)

  • Minimum 70% average in mid-year exams

  • At least 70% in Mathematics

  • At least 70% in English FAL or 60% in English HL

  • Minimum 65% average in the most recent university exams
