About the One UN House Initiative
The Liberia “One UN House” initiative is a result of extensive analyses and discussions since 2013, aimed at ensuring a smooth transition following the withdrawal of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and the country’s peaceful political transition. Since then, the UN Country Team (UNCT) has taken significant steps to establish dynamic coordination mechanisms that promote efficiency and complementarity among various UN Agencies through the “Delivering as One” concept.
Sixteen UN Agencies and International Organizations, comprising 650 staff members, are co-located in the One UN shared common premises in Monrovia. This collaborative environment facilitates active cooperation, generates efficiencies across agencies, enhances technology integration, and provides a safe working space. The One UN House Manager, under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Resident Representative Operations, oversees the operational support for management and administration of the One UN House.
The Building and Facilities Management Unit (BFMU) is responsible for delivering operational services, enabling agencies to focus on their mandates and programs. The unit ensures the proper functioning of common services provided to all UN Agencies located in the PAP Compound. The One UN House Manager, supported by international UNV staff and national technical support staff, heads the BFMU, which is dedicated to offering timely, well-planned, and efficient services in line with UNDP policies and procedures.
