Background & Job Description

The Centre for Women and Law at National Law University (NLU) Delhi has opened applications for Research Associate and Field Investigator positions. The roles are part of an ongoing research project focusing on Women Labour and Policy in India, especially in informal sectors. The positions are contract-based and will be located in Delhi with possible travel for fieldwork.

These roles provide an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about gender justice, labour rights, and empirical legal research. Applicants will support academic investigations, data collection, field interviews, and policy analysis concerning women workers.

Tasks

Research Associate

Assist in designing and conducting research on women’s labour and related legal frameworks.
Draft reports, literature reviews, and policy briefs.
Coordinate with field investigators and support data collection efforts.
Organize events, roundtables, or stakeholder discussions related to the project.

Field Investigator

Conduct field visits to collect qualitative and quantitative data.
Interview stakeholders, including women workers, employers, and local officials.
Assist in transcription, data entry, and preliminary analysis.
Maintain field notes and ethical standards in data collection.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

Research Associate: A postgraduate degree in Law, Public Policy, Gender Studies, or Social Sciences from a recognized institution.
Field Investigator: A graduate or postgraduate degree in any relevant field (Social Work, Sociology, Law, or similar disciplines).

Experience

Research Associate: Prior research experience in gender, labour rights, or legal studies is preferred.
Strong writing and analytical skills are essential.
Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and research databases.
Field Investigator: Experience in fieldwork, conducting interviews, or surveys.
Comfortable with extensive travel within assigned locations.
Language proficiency in Hindi and English (additional regional languages will be an asset).

Additional Information

These are contractual positions, with duration and remuneration depending on the project and applicant qualifications.
Preference will be given to candidates with a background in empirical legal research or grassroots engagement with labour or gender issues.
