Position: Engineering Specialist

Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Specialist will be responsible for overseeing infrastructure and civil engineering projects that support healthcare, sustainable energy, and water resource management. The key responsibilities include:

1. Engineering Project Management

  • Lead and monitor construction and renovation projects such as warehouses, pharmacy stores, solar system installations, and borehole drilling.
  • Ensure compliance with international engineering standards, safety regulations, and sustainability principles.
  • Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and execution strategies.

2. Contracts and Procurement Oversight

  • Provide guidance on contract management and procurement processes.
  • Evaluate bids, proposals, and technical submissions.
  • Ensure service providers and contractors adhere to quality and timeline requirements.

3. Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Supervise project execution to ensure high-quality standards and value-for-money.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may also apply, but they must have an additional two years of work experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years (Master’s) or 9 years (Bachelor’s) of experience in engineering project management, infrastructure development, and construction supervision.
  • Hands-on experience in health infrastructure development (hospitals, clinics, medical storage facilities, etc.).
  • Experience in contract management, procurement processes, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and web-based management tools.
  • Familiarity with UNDP, Global Fund, or UN agency work environments is an added advantage.
