Background & Job Description

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the leading development arm of the United Nations, with operations in over 170 countries. With digital innovation playing a critical role in modern global development, UNDP has launched the Digital Strategy 2022–2025—a transformative roadmap that promotes inclusive and sustainable digital transformation for people and the planet.

This home-based Digital Analyst position falls under the Chief Digital Office (CDO), which leads UNDP’s digital transformation initiatives. The CDO collaborates with governments, civil society, and private sector stakeholders to ensure inclusive digital ecosystems and accelerate innovation in development work. This role offers a unique chance to contribute to digital development strategy, research, stakeholder engagement, and digital product development.

Although the contract is for an initial duration of six months, candidates selected through this process may also be considered for similar future roles. This is a remote position open to international applicants.


Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Digital Analyst within the Chief Digital Office, you will contribute to a wide array of initiatives, focusing on digital transformation strategy, governance, AI readiness, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities include:

Contributing to Digital Transformation and Ecosystem Building

  • Implement AI and digital readiness assessments for UN member states and governmental bodies.

  • Draft policy briefs on inclusive and rights-based digital ecosystems.

  • Coordinate with countries interested in digital public infrastructure (DPI) initiatives and governance systems.

  • Support programming teams across UNDP to align on digital project implementation.

  • Analyze and synthesize lessons learned from ongoing digital projects globally.

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and briefs to keep stakeholders informed and aligned.

Digital Capacity Building

  • Conduct user research to assess digital training needs.

  • Design and facilitate workshops and training materials for stakeholders within UNDP and its global partners.

  • Develop and maintain digital knowledge-sharing resources and platforms.

  • Support digital transformation communities of practice within the UN system.

Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify strategic partnership opportunities with governments, donors, and NGOs.

  • Support CDO’s donor engagement and resource mobilization strategies.

  • Assist with high-profile event organization including conferences, roundtables, and multi-stakeholder forums.

Product Development and User Experience

  • Co-create digital products (tools, platforms, dashboards) with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct usability testing and iterate based on feedback.

  • Define product roadmaps aligned with UNDP objectives and monitor implementation progress.

  • Collaborate with digital product sponsors across the organization for buy-in and adoption.

Additional Duties

    • Perform other duties as required to support digital initiatives under the Chief Digital Office.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • A Master’s degree in Public Policy, International Development, Business, IT, Economics, or related fields is required.

  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with an additional two years of experience may be accepted.


Experience Requirements

  • With Master’s Degree: Minimum of 2 years of experience in management consulting, industry, or nonprofit sectors focused on digital innovation.

  • With Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience working on digital transformation projects in development or governmental contexts is highly desirable.

  • Background in digital inclusion, governance frameworks, or data infrastructure is an asset.

  • Proven project management skills and experience managing digital tools (e.g., dashboards, knowledge platforms).

  • Experience collaborating with UN agencies or large development organizations is preferred.

  • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, including governments, donors, and private sector partners.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to prepare strategic documents and training materials.


 Additional Information

Languages

  • Fluency in English is mandatory.

  • Knowledge of other UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is an asset.

Contract Type

  • International Personnel Service Agreement (IPSA-9)

  • Full-time, Home-Based (Remote)

  • Initial duration: 6 months, with potential for future opportunities.
