How can you make a difference?
The Nutrition Officer will provide expert technical assistance and support in the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of nutrition program activities. Responsibilities include data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge generation, networking, and capacity building to facilitate the achievement of objectives outlined in the work plan. The focus areas include nutrition in early and mid-childhood, adolescent nutrition, micronutrient supplementation, early detection and treatment of severe acute malnutrition, and nutrition governance or systems strengthening interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support to Programme Development and Planning: Assist in the design and planning of nutrition programmes.
- Data Management and Reporting: Ensure accurate data management and report on a quarterly basis.
- Programme Management, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Delivery of Results: Oversee programme implementation, monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and ensure delivery of results.
- Technical and Operational Support to Programme Implementation: Provide technical guidance and operational support, including cash transfers.
- Networking and Partner Building: Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building: Promote innovative practices, manage knowledge, and build capacity among staff and partners.
- Field Monitoring and Supervision: Conduct field visits to monitor programme activities and provide support.
To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will have:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health and Nutrition, Child Development, or related disciplines.
Work Experience:
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience in programme planning, implementation, and management, with a focus on child health and nutrition.
- Skills in data management and analysis.
- Experience in a developing country context and/or familiarity with emergency situations is an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is also considered an asset.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of nutrition programmes including early childhood nutrition, adolescent nutrition, maternal nutrition, early detection and treatment of malnutrition, and nutrition governance.
- Proficiency in standard office software and data analytical tools like HMIS.
- Ability to build cross-sectional or cross-organizational partnerships.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Krio is an advantage.
