About the Project
The position supports a major biodiversity conservation initiative focused on protecting the Suriname Amazon and strengthening sustainable landscape management.
Suriname is one of the most forested countries in the world, with approximately:
93% Forest Cover
and significant biodiversity, including thousands of plant and animal species.
The project aims to:
- Reduce threats to biodiversity
- Promote sustainable forest management
- Strengthen conservation efforts
- Support sustainable livelihoods
- Improve protected area management
- Enhance climate resilience
The project focuses on key landscapes and protected areas including:
- Central Suriname Nature Reserve
- Sipaliwini Nature Reserve
- Brownsberg Nature Park
- Brinckheuvel Nature Reserve
Key Responsibilities
The Technical and Administrative Associate will work closely with the Project Manager and key stakeholders to support project delivery.
Technical Monitoring
Responsibilities include:
- Participating in field missions
- Supporting technical assessments
- Monitoring project activities
- Tracking project indicators
- Reviewing technical performance
- Supporting evidence-based decision-making
Stakeholder Coordination
The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate with government agencies
- Engage NGOs and community groups
- Support technical training activities
- Facilitate stakeholder collaboration
- Promote inclusive project implementation
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
The role includes:
- Supporting monitoring frameworks
- Collecting and analyzing data
- Tracking project results
- Supporting surveys and assessments
- Preparing technical reports
- Documenting lessons learned
Knowledge Management

Minimum Requirements
Education
Applicants must have either:
- Secondary School Education with relevant experience
OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- International Development
- Sustainable Development
- Environmental Management
- Natural Resource Management
- Economics
- Climate Change
- Related fields
A university degree will be considered an advantage.
Work Experience
Candidates must possess:
- 7 years of relevant experience with secondary education
OR
- 4 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree
Experience should include:
- Project implementation
- Programme management
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Development projects
- Environmental or climate initiatives
