About the Role
The ICT Assistant will provide specialized and non-specialized support to users regarding computer-related problems (software and hardware) at the WHO Country Office (WCO) in Mozambique. This role aims to support the work and achievement of the country office’s programme goals by ensuring effective IT support functions for internal customers.
Objectives of the Programme and Unit
The CSU Team aims to provide administrative, logistics, and ICT support required to create a conducive working environment for staff members. The ICT support provides information and technology management services to the WHO Office and Clusters.
Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the Operations Officer (OO), and within the scope defined by regional and approved country ITM strategies, policy guidelines, and objectives, the incumbent is responsible for executing overall IT support functions for internal customers in the assigned cluster. The role involves extensive contact at all levels of the respective offices, within the Cluster, and with stakeholders and suppliers, as authorized.
Summary of Assigned Duties
The ICT User Support Assistant will be responsible for the following major duties or any other related responsibilities, as required by hierarchical supervisors within the area of responsibility:
- Support Users: Provide assistance in all application, software, and hardware-related issues.
- Timely Response: Respond to user requests promptly and update the FAQ and QA database accordingly.
- Request Management: Record and manage requests using the official Ticket System software.
- Troubleshooting: Ensure troubleshooting of computers, printers, and other devices.
- Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain standard desktop configurations.
- Device Support: Install and support printers, scanners, and other similar devices.
- Image Maintenance: Generate and maintain standard desktop configuration images for each model of desktop/laptop.
- Software Troubleshooting: Ensure software and applications’ troubleshooting.
- Driver and Application Installation: Install necessary specific drivers and applications on computers.
- User Training: Contribute to delivering end-user training in office applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and other tools.
- Meeting Support: Provide IT support during meetings held in the office.
- Mobile Device Configuration: Install and configure mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) as necessary.
- Capacity Building: Support the identification of staff ITM capacity and skills gaps, propose and implement agreed skill enhancement and training measures.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as required.

Functional Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and collaborative tools (SharePoint, WebEx, etc.)

- Ability to support and maintain applications, apply IT knowledge to practical situations, and support internal customers with IT assistance
Education (Qualifications):
Essential:
- Completion of secondary school education and technical training in electronics/telecommunications, computer sciences, or any other related field.
Desirable:
- Microsoft trainings/certifications will be an asset.
Experience:
Essential:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in IT customer services and in an IT service-desk environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with UN Agencies would be an added advantage.
Language Skills:
Essential:
- Excellent knowledge of Portuguese.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of English or French.
Other Skills:
- Proficiency in all major computer programs and software applications.
