Core Values:
- We are Christian: We acknowledge one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ, the love, mercy, and grace of God are made known to us and all people. We seek to follow Jesus β in his identification with the poor, the powerless, the afflicted, the oppressed, and the marginalized; in his special concern for children; in his respect for the dignity bestowed by the Creator on every human being; in his call to share resources with each other; in his quest for peace and justice; in his challenge to the rich, the powerful, the afflicted, and the comfortable; in his respect for diversity of persons, cultures, and customs; in his forgiveness of human sin; in his unlimited love and compassion; and in his plea for reconciliation and mutual love among all people.
- We are committed to the poor: We are called to serve the neediest people of the earth; to relieve their suffering and to promote the transformation of their condition of life. We stand in solidarity in a common search for justice. We seek to understand the situation of the poor and work alongside them toward fullness of life. We seek to facilitate an engagement between the poor and the affluent that opens both to transformation. The need for transformation is common to all. Together we share a quest for justice, peace, reconciliation, and healing in a broken world. It is our privilege to participate in this transformation. We are called to serve as Christ served. We seek to facilitate an engagement between the poor and the affluent that opens both to transformation.
- We value people: We regard all people as created and loved by God. We give priority to people before money, structure, and systems. We act in ways that respect the dignity, uniqueness, and intrinsic worth of every personβthe poor, the donors, our staff, and their families, boards, and volunteers. We celebrate the richness of diversity in human personality, culture, and contribution. We are an open, participatory, enabling organization. We encourage the professional, personal, and spiritual development of our staff.
- We are stewards: We are stewards of Godβs resources and we are faithful to the purpose for which those resources are given. We manage resources in a manner that brings maximum benefit to the poor. We maintain high standards of professional competence and financial accountability. We exercise a responsible and responsive quality of service. We are stewards of the environment and encourage sustainable use of natural resources.
- We are partners: We are members of an international World Vision Partnership that transcends legal, structural, and cultural boundaries. We pursue relationships with churches, other faiths, governments, donors, communities, and corporations as partners in serving the poor. We seek to contribute to the well-being of all World Vision staff and to communicate openly and candidly. We encourage the professional, personal, and spiritual development of our staff.
- We are responsive: We are responsive to the life-threatening emergencies where our involvement is needed and appropriate. We are willing to take prudent risks and act quickly. We seek to improve our work through continuous learning and mutual accountability.
