Background & Bursary Description
I’m sharing this announcement purely as a job/opportunity advertisement; I’m not affiliated with the NFVF. The NFVF National Bursary Programme is designed to develop and support talented students entering South Africa’s film and television industry. It awards non-repayable grants based on academic merit and financial need, paying funds directly to accredited universities and colleges across the country.
Successful applicants will receive 100% tuition coverage and, for first-year students, support for accommodation, meals, and study materials (total cap ~R50,000) . Students must reapply each year and maintain satisfactory academic performance to continue funding .
Tasks / What the Bursary Covers
As an NFVF bursary recipient, you will receive:

Full tuition coverage for a full-time Film/TV qualification (undergraduate or postgraduate diploma/degree)

Accommodation, meals, textbooks, software (up to R50,000 total for first-year students)

Funding for software or study materials, based on course requirements
Note: The bursary does not cover travel costs or previous debt .
You must reapply each academic year, maintain a minimum average (at least 50–60%, depending on the year of study), and pass all modules to retain funding.
Qualifications / Eligibility
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

South African citizen

Completed Matric

Demonstrate financial need, with household income below R600,000 (for minors)

Be registered or provisionally registered for full-time Film or Television study at an accredited South African tertiary institution.

Those from previously disadvantaged backgrounds

Additionally, international bursaries are available to South African citizens or permanent residents pursuing postgraduate film/TV studies abroad—provided the course is not offered domestically
