About the Role
The Knowledge Management Specialist will coordinate knowledge management strategies across UNV while supporting the organization’s flagship research and evidence initiatives.
The role includes managing UNV’s Knowledge Portal, promoting research findings, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and strengthening collaboration with internal and external partners working on volunteerism and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will:
- Lead UNV knowledge management initiatives and strategies.
- Coordinate content for the UNV Knowledge Portal.
- Develop and implement a Knowledge Management Strategy and Work Plan.
- Identify and promote evidence supporting volunteerism.
- Review and improve knowledge management systems and tools.
- Analyze portal performance and recommend improvements.
- Produce policy briefs, analytical reports, blogs, and strategic notes.
- Coordinate outreach events and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Support dissemination of the State of the World’s Volunteerism Report 2026.
- Build partnerships with research institutions and development stakeholders.
- Support research, data analysis, and evidence generation.
- Provide technical support to regional and field offices.
- Maintain quality assurance for knowledge products.
- Develop systems for tracking research citations and references.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- A Master’s degree in Information Science, Knowledge Management, Research, Communications, or a related field with at least five years of relevant experience, OR
- A Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in research and knowledge management.
- Strong understanding of research methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills.
- Experience producing research papers, policy briefs, or analytical publications.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluency in English.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Experience within the United Nations or other international organizations.
- Knowledge of volunteerism and development programming.
- Working knowledge of another UN language such as French, Arabic, or Russian.
